After nearly 25 years of songwriting — and the last 13 spent as a touring original artist across Canada — singer-songwriter Pat James is sitting down to revisit the roads that led him here.
The Backroads Project is a journey through the music, memories, stories and experiences behind the songs spanning three chapters of his career:
The Road Heavy, Sweet And The Big Bad, and his current embodiment, Pat James And The Whole Truth.
Through stripped-down performances, reflections and archival material, Pat will revisit the songs that shaped his life both on and off the road.
If you followed any of these projects through the years, there’s no need to look any further. The Backroads Project will be shared through the bands’ existing social channels and YouTube pages — no new accounts, no rebranding, just a new way of looking back.
There is no exact timeline for this journey. Traveling the backroads can take time, and detours are inevitable… but the destination always reveals itself eventually.
Along the way you’ll find:
Backroads Sessions
Acoustic performances and reinterpretations of songs from throughout the years.
Backroads Confessions
The stories, inspirations and truths behind the music.
Backroads Observations
Road memories, reflections, lessons and experiences gathered along the way.
From The Archives
Unreleased demos, forgotten recordings, old footage and more.
After years of writing, recording, performing and touring across Canada, Pat James has accumulated a lifetime of stories worth revisiting.
The road behind us often explains the road ahead.
The Backroads Project begins now.
